Important Information for our Valued Patients
Elder Street Practice is a private billing general practice. Each doctor sets their own fees. Fees are based on the time taken and complexity of your consultation, not simply the booking type.
Medicare rebates apply to eligible patients and are processed at the time of payment.
Medicare Rebates
After payment, your Medicare rebate will be lodged electronically and deposited into your nominated bank account (usually within 24 to 48 hours).
Patients pay the consultation fee, and Medicare provides a rebate directly back to you. Your out-of-pocket cost is the difference between our fee and the Medicare rebate.
Your out-of-pocket cost (gap) depends on:
- Consultation length
- Complexity of care
- Procedures or additional treatments performed

Below is a guide to our practice fees. Final fees are determined by the time taken and complexity of your consultation.
Payment Process
Medicare will deposit the Rebate in your bank account, normally within a few working days.

General Billing Notes
- Consultation length is determined by clinical need. Longer or more complex consultations attract higher fees and Medicare rebates.
- Procedures, dressings, consumables and specialised treatments may incur additional costs.
- All our GPs Bulk-Bill Childhood Immunisations.
- Routine script requests and referrals may require a standard consultation.
- Phone consultations are available where appropriate and are billed accordingly.
Children & Immunisations
- Routine childhood immunisations are bulk billed.
- Newborn checks are bulk billed.
- Other childhood consultations generally attract a reduced gap (doctor dependent).
Financial Hardship & Discounted Fees
We understand that medical costs can sometimes be difficult.
Discounted fees are available at the discretion of your GP.
If you are experiencing financial hardship, please discuss this directly with your doctor.

Please allow 48 hours for review and approval. Discounted fees cannot be applied retrospectively.
Cancellation Policy
We require at least 2 hours’ notice for appointment cancellations.
Failure to attend without notice may result in the full consultation fee being charged, with no Medicare rebate applicable.
Based on consistent future attendance, missed appointment fees may be credited toward a future consultation at the doctor’s discretion.
